After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Amadeu do Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Puca EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Amadeu do Nascimento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Júlio Alcântara breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Pernambuco getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Roger Campidelis hit a great ball. The audience held their breath when Adalberto Pena in the 32nd minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Júlio Alcântara's left hand side. Clóvis Sarmento hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. After 36 played minutes, Pernambuco's Cristiano Alagoano shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tiaguinho Aguiar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Pernambuco reached it. After 38 played minutes Puca EC got a freekick which was hit by Belchior Bastos. After recieving a nice pass, Pernambuco's Cristiano Alagoano tried to score from far away in the 39th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. José Carlos Dantas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Tiaguinho Aguiar made a huge save. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Amadeu do Nascimento to make the kick off. Puca EC's Horácio Lucas got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Amadeu do Nascimento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Júlio Alcântara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amadeu do Nascimento in the 60th minute of play. When João de Amorim fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Puca EC's protests and gave João de Amorim a yellow card for diving instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Carlos Dantas in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tiaguinho Aguiar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 66 minutes into the game, Amadeu do Nascimento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Puca EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pernambuco the free kick. The supporters of Pernambuco booed when Puca EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amadeu do Nascimento didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Pernambuco's Júlio Alcântara got control of the ball when Sidnei da Silva tried to sneak it across the goal line. Maurício de Souza charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Maurício de Souza the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Pernambuco's Maurício de Souza got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Maurício de Souza was shown his second yellow card after 78 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Maurício de Souza hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Júlio Alcântara showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeu do Nascimento in the 81st minute of the match. Júlio Alcântara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Amadeu do Nascimento in the 83rd minute. Puca EC's Tiaguinho Aguiar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Carlos Dantas in the 87th minute of play. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
