After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Falcão Lago managed to get in a good position for a shot. Yauarete EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Falcão Lago was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Agenor Pernambucano breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 7 minutes into the match, Yauarete EC's Horácio Travassos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Agenor Pernambucano narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 10th minute, Fausto Freitas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 12 minutes into the game, Cássio Medeiros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Yauarete EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Xapetuba the free kick. A collision led to Yauarete EC getting a freekick after 12 minutes play. Cássio Medeiros hit a great ball. 14 minutes into the match, Yauarete EC's goal looked a bit too open when Fausto Freitas came free, but Reginaldo Varela reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fausto Freitas in the 23rd minute of play forced Yauarete EC's goalkeeper Reginaldo Varela to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Falcão Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fausto Freitas in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Reginaldo Varela prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Fausto Freitas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reginaldo Varela having to interfere. A collision led to Xapetuba getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Fernandinho Ramalho hit a great ball. Arnaldo Brasil recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Arnaldo Brasil managed to get in a good position for a shot. Xapetuba's supporters rose to their feet, but Arnaldo Brasil was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Reginaldo Varela breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fausto Freitas made a kick off. Fausto Freitas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Reginaldo Varela tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Xapetuba booed when Yauarete EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cipriano Sarmento didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 65th minute Falcão Lago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Agenor Pernambucano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Reginaldo Varela made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arnaldo Brasil in the 67th minute of play. A collision led to Yauarete EC getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Cássio Medeiros hit a great ball. Horácio Travassos scored 0-1 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Agenor Pernambucano, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Yauarete EC booed when Xapetuba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fausto Freitas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Horácio Travassos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Horácio Travassos struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Agenor Pernambucano didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Yauarete EC. After 94 played minutes Yauarete EC got a freekick which was hit by Gilvan Amaral. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Yauarete EC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
