With a little luck, Maracuja AD's Bruninho Cardozo got control of the ball when Narciso Bertassi tried to sneak it across the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edgard Viana in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Glauco Paulista saved Tucumandeua SC from getting behind. After 13 played minutes Maracuja AD got a freekick which was hit by Dida Quintal. Bruninho Cardozo was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Breno Saldanha. Edgard Viana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Glauco Paulista having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Pedro Luís Hermes during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 19th minute of the game. One of Tucumandeua SC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Maracuja AD:s goal. Bruninho Cardozo was out of position in the 24 minute of play, and Décio Meireles capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Décio Meireles really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Viana in the 35th minute of play forced Tucumandeua SC's goalkeeper Glauco Paulista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Décio Meireles hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Edgard Viana recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 42nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 49 minutes into the match, Maracuja AD's goal looked a bit too open when Décio Meireles came free, but Bruninho Cardozo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Décio Meireles to make the kick off. The supporters of Maracuja AD booed when Tucumandeua SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manoel Gerber didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgard Viana in the 57th minute of play forced Tucumandeua SC's goalkeeper Glauco Paulista to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 59 minutes, Alberto Peixoto managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maracuja AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alberto Peixoto was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bruninho Cardozo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Décio Meireles in the 68th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Peixoto got free with Glauco Paulista in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 71 minutes, Durval Alves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tucumandeua SC and the Maracuja AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 71st minute, Durval Alves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alberto Peixoto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nestor Neves's late challenge caught a Tucumandeua SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. It was a penalty for Maracuja AD! Bruninho Cardozo had in the 77thth minute some difficulties stopping Breno Saldanha's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. If Narciso Bertassi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Narciso Bertassi came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Tucumandeua SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Narciso Bertassi couldn't finish the play. Narciso Bertassi struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Bruninho Cardozo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Tucumandeua SC. Nestor Neves hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Alberto Peixoto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 100th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Glauco Paulista having to interfere.
