Rafinha Carioca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Valinhos. In the 9th minute, Cesinha da Mata made a precise shot to the right of Aloísio Amaral. Valinhos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. Aloísio Amaral took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cesinha da Mata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Cesinha da Mata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aloísio Amaral having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Valinhos's zone, Dráusio de Sena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aloísio Amaral came out of the goal and Dráusio de Sena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 28th minute, Luís Fernando Leite hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nuno Soeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nuno Soeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 31 played minutes Valinhos got a freekick which was hit by Nuno Soeiro. Luciano Souto recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Benedito Schmidt to make the kick off. Luciano Souto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Aloísio Amaral made a huge save. Rafinha Carioca took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nildo de Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Valinhos's Nildo de Souza got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Benedito Schmidt came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Valinhos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benedito Schmidt couldn't finish the play. Nildo de Souza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Rafinha Carioca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aloísio Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cesinha da Mata, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. 84 minutes into the match, Lorenz FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nildo de Souza came free, but Rafinha Carioca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 85 minutes, Benedito Schmidt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Valinhos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Benedito Schmidt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 86th minute, one of Lorenz FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Lorenz FC. Valinhos's Benedito Schmidt got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 99th minute Benedito Schmidt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rafinha Carioca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
