Jânio Vidal stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sandrinho de Almeida's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Nilson Luz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Flavinho Catarinense read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. Gilson Castro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Caxias's Flavinho Catarinense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Caxias from getting a goal against them. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Caxias's goalkeeper Flavinho Catarinense, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gilson Castro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gilson Castro in the 41stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Flavinho Catarinense, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Gilson Castro came free with the goalkeeper in the 42nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Flavinho Catarinense could save by the left post. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Noel Albuquerque during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 46th match minute, Caxias was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Noel Albuquerque to maneuver through the defense. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Sandrinho de Almeida could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Jânio Vidal made a huge save. If Sandrinho de Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caxias's Flavinho Catarinense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilson Castro in the 64th minute of play. In the 66th minute, Caxias's Basílio Paraibano dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-2. In the 72nd minute Nilson Luz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavinho Catarinense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 75 minutes into the match, Cocota's goal looked a bit too open when Basílio Paraibano came free, but Jânio Vidal reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Caxias's Basílio Paraibano got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 81 minutes in the game, Sandrinho de Almeida fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Jânio Vidal having to interfere. Raimundo Abreu hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. In the 83rd minute, Raimundo Abreu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 84 minutes into the match, Caxias's Reynaldo Schmidt broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Basílio Paraibano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jânio Vidal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. Sandrinho de Almeida struck a weak shot in the 92nd minute. Jânio Vidal didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Caxias. Raimundo Abreu was shown his second yellow card after 94 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 95 played minutes Cocota got a freekick which was hit by Raimundo Abreu. The Cocota supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Caxias's performance. The match ended with a win for Caxias.
