Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Chamengo's Claudinho Sá started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Baltazar Carneiro came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Arvores fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Baltazar Carneiro couldn't finish the play. In the 7th minute, Claudinho Sá ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jaime Loyola was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. The supporters of Chamengo booed when Arvores was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Roberto Guimarães didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tony Valle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonçalo Duarte in the 16th minute of play. Baltazar Carneiro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 18th minute of the match, but Tony Valle made a huge save. 23 minutes into the match, Arvores's goal looked a bit too open when Paulo Vander came free, but Jaime Loyola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Arvores's zone, Paulo Vander stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jaime Loyola came out of the goal and Paulo Vander tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With a little luck, Chamengo's Tony Valle got control of the ball when Baltazar Carneiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Claudinho Sá fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jaime Loyola having to interfere. Chamengo's Tony Valle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonçalo Duarte in the 36th minute of play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gonçalo Duarte to strike the kick off in the second half. Tony Valle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gonçalo Duarte in the 53rd minute of the match. Chamengo's Paulo Vander pulled a muscle in his back after 57 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Roberto Guimarães charged in rather forcefully in the 57th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Roberto Guimarães the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Roberto Guimarães hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. Tony Valle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Baltazar Carneiro in the 60th minute of play. Chamengo's Cafu Tepedino got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Baltazar Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tony Valle having to interfere. In the 72nd minute Roberto Guimarães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tony Valle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Chamengo getting a freekick after 72 minutes play. Cafu Tepedino hit a great ball. Cafu Tepedino kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Arvores were awarded a corner in the 79th minute after Chamengo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Afonsinho de Barros took the corner. Arvores's Afonsinho de Barros was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Tony Valle in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After having played for 80 minutes, Cláudio Quirino managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chamengo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cláudio Quirino was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 90th minute, Cafu Tepedino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Baltazar Carneiro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Tony Valle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chamengo's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
