Augusto Abreu blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jorginho Martins having to make a save. 35 minutes in the game, Sydney Soeiro dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 39 minutes into the game, Augusto Abreu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Goianas AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ermo the free kick. After a rather tough play, Goianas AD's Augusto Abreu got a free kick in the 40th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Sydney Soeiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ermo's supporters rose to their feet, but Sydney Soeiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulinho Tande breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Jorginho Martins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Augusto Abreu, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. After 58 minutes, Manfredo do Vale mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ermo and the Goianas AD players grew even worse after the yellow card. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Abreu in the 69th minute of play forced Ermo's goalkeeper Jorginho Martins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aleandro da Rocha during the 74th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Augusto Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
