In the 25th match minute, Quiteria was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gualter do Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. 29 minutes into the match, Ivatuba's goal looked a bit too open when Edgard Sarmento came free, but Nilson Lago reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Ivatuba getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Custódio Baptista hit a great ball. When the match clock showed 31 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Edgard Sarmento sped through Ivatuba's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nilson Lago. In the 38th minute, Luiz Eduardo Veloso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Edgard Sarmento to strike the kick off in the second half. If Gilberto Galvão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Custódio Baptista during the 73rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Ivatuba getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Custódio Baptista hit a great ball. Ivatuba's Nilson Lago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgard Sarmento in the 77th minute of play. Luiz Eduardo Veloso took the ball and in the 83 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ulisses Saraiva. Ulisses Saraiva dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. Nilson Lago took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgard Sarmento, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 99th minute, Armindo Pontes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 100th minute, Baltazar de Azevedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
