The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. André Luís Leme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfredão Britto in the 8th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfredão Britto in the 9th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg André Luís Leme saved Puei FC from getting behind. In the 11th minute, Raí Faria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 12 played minutes, Canhoe SS's Gláuber de Andrade shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper André Luís Leme came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Canhoe SS reached it. If Charles Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Raí Faria received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 20th minute. Falcão Vergílio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Célio Baiano kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. If Zacarias Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zacarias Carvalho in the 28th minute of play forced Canhoe SS's goalkeeper Falcão Vergílio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Canhoe SS's Alfredão Britto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that André Luís Leme narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Charles Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 34 minutes, Gino Macedo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Puei FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gino Macedo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zacarias Carvalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 38thth minute of the game Zacarias Carvalho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Canhoe SS's Falcão Vergílio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Alfredão Britto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Zacarias Carvalho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Puei FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Zacarias Carvalho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Falcão Vergílio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alfredão Britto to make the kick off. After 55 played minutes, Canhoe SS's Silvinho Seco shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper André Luís Leme came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Canhoe SS reached it. In the 55th minute, Fábio Dante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Canhoe SS's Falcão Vergílio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zacarias Carvalho in the 62nd minute of play. If Zacarias Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Charles Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Zacarias Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Falcão Vergílio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gino Macedo in the 76th minute of play forced Canhoe SS's goalkeeper Falcão Vergílio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the match, Canhoe SS's goal looked a bit too open when Zacarias Carvalho came free, but Falcão Vergílio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 81 minutes, Doriva de Godoy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Canhoe SS and the Puei FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 81 played minutes Canhoe SS got a freekick which was hit by Doriva de Godoy. Zacarias Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Falcão Vergílio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Canhoe SS's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
