With a little luck, Ibacatu EC's Andrézinho Garcia got control of the ball when Luizão Paranaense tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Luizão Paranaense came up free with the goalie in the 13th minute, the Mocos fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luizão Paranaense couldn't finish the play. Dário dos Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Dráuzio Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dário dos Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dráuzio Santos having to interfere. In the 22nd minute, one of Mocos:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mocos. A collision led to Ibacatu EC getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Jacinto Meireles hit a great ball. After having played for 38 minutes, Sabino Fontes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mocos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sabino Fontes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tadeu Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Dário dos Santos was the one to do the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Ibacatu EC's Dário dos Santos slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Dráuzio Santos. That made the score 1-2 after 55 minutes of play. Dário dos Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Dráuzio Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Mocos getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Edvaldo das Neves hit a great ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Kiko Lopes during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dário dos Santos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Bebeto Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 82 minutes, Luizão Paranaense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. After a rather tough play, Ibacatu EC's Rodrigo Albuquerque got a free kick in the 84th minute. Dário dos Santos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Dráuzio Santos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
