An unexpectedly hard shot by Adelino Fantini in the 20th minute of play forced Lalima SC's goalkeeper Alexsandro Machado to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Richard Paraibano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gláuber Gaúcho having to interfere. Gilson Fontes's late challenge caught a Uruguayana's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gilson Fontes helped the player get up and apologised. Alexsandro Machado showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Antônio das Neves in the 47th minute of the match. Agnaldo Saldanhas short, quick shot in the 48thth minute got Gláuber Gaúcho to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Richard Paraibano to strike the kick off in the second half. The referee ignored Uruguayana's protests and gave Adelino Fantini a yellow card for diving instead. Alexsandro Machado made a fantastic save in the 90th minute, when Antônio das Neves sent off a good shot on target. Lalima SC's Alexsandro Machado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dedé de Carvalho in the 93rd minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Uruguayana eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
