Elivélton Barros started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Milona SS booed when Melo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sílvio Luís Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vivaldo Souza during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Eliézer Lago showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elivélton Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. The supporters of Melo booed when Milona SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elivélton Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Elivélton Barros fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Milona SS's protests and gave Elivélton Barros a yellow card for diving instead. After 22 played minutes Milona SS got a freekick which was hit by Elivélton Barros. In the 24th minute, Sílvio Luiz de Andrade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Telmo Marques was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 24th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. If Elivélton Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilton Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Luís Paulo Netto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Wilton Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Melo's Acácio Rosa got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wilton Leal to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Milona SS's goalkeeper Luís Paulo Netto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Wilton Leal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jairo Paraíba kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Luís Paulo Netto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilton Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Wilton Leal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilton Leal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Luís Paulo Netto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Acácio Rosa got free with Luís Paulo Netto in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 82nd minute of the match, Wilton Leal tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Luís Paulo Netto saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Acácio Rosa struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Luís Paulo Netto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melo. Milona SS's Luís Paulo Netto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Milona SS from getting a goal against them. After 87th play minutes Acácio Rosa shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Luís Paulo Netto and just under the crossbar into goal. Geraldo Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Geraldo Monteiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eliézer Lago was relentless in the 96th minute of the game.
