Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Chico Maia made the kick off and thus started the match. If Bernardo Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. When Bernardo Lira came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Itaia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bernardo Lira couldn't finish the play. Tapagem's defense didn't have a chance, in the 7th minute, when Chico Maia scored to the left of an out of position Walmir Sampaio, making the score, 1-0. After a defensive mix-up in Tapagem's zone, Bernardo Lira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Walmir Sampaio came out of the goal and Bernardo Lira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 16thth minute of the game Chico Maia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tapagem's Walmir Sampaio was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 19 minutes into the game, Tapagem's Gualter Carioca nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. José Augusto Vides made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Gualter Carioca sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Gualter Carioca came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Tapagem fans jumped to their feet. Gualter Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. José Augusto Vides tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 34 minutes, Gualter Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Tapagem's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gualter Carioca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gualter Carioca received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Chico Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmir Sampaio having to interfere. Bernardo Lira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Walmir Sampaio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gualter Carioca was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bernardo Lira in the 51st minute of play forced Tapagem's goalkeeper Walmir Sampaio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Téo Lucas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Walmir Sampaio having to interfere. After having played for 55 minutes, Bernardo Lira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 60th minute the ball was on its way in behind Itaia's goalkeeper José Augusto Vides, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 62 minutes into the match, Itaia's goal looked a bit too open when Gualter Carioca came free, but José Augusto Vides reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 64th minute of the match Benjamim Pernambucano sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but José Augusto Vides skillfully saved the ball. Eliézer Ferraz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Walmir Sampaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Edmílson Peres fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Itaia's protests and gave Edmílson Peres a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 76th minute of the game. One of Itaia:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Tapagem:s goal. In the 78th minute there was a penalty for Tapagem. Raimundo Lira stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving José Augusto Vides. 1-2. In the 89th minute, Tapagem's Gualter Carioca dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-3. Artur Neiva hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Walmir Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chico Maia, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Tapagem walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
