Spectators: 33 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Chico Cardozo started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 3rd match minute, Matoim FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edu Cerezo to maneuver through the defense. Benedito Nunes took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Délio Fernandez. Délio Fernandez dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Chico Cardozo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Délio Fernandez having to interfere. In the 20th minute, João Xavier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Are's Zézinho Maia got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Délio Fernandez acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 23rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Edu Cerezo. Benedito Nunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Chico Cardozo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Enrique Neves struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Eduardo Recife didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Are. Délio Fernandez made a fantastic save in the 35th minute, when Benedito Nunes sent off a good shot on target. Matoim FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Are the free kick. After having played for 45 minutes, Chico Cardozo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Matoim FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chico Cardozo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Benedito Nunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Enrique Neves to make the kick off. Eduardo Recife made a fantastic save in the 54th minute, when João Xavier sent off a good shot on target. Délio Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Benedito Nunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Enéas Rosa's late challenge caught a Matoim FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
