The Are fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. 23 minutes into the game, Roberto Bertassi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Are's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Rinare the free kick. Celso Bittencourt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Délio Fernandez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. André Luís Nogueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Délio Fernandez having to interfere. Celso Bittencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Celso Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Agostinho Baiano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Délio Fernandez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Celso Bittencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Celso Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Rinare players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Are were winning 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Enrique Neves was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Enrique Neves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luís Gustavo Marinho. Rinare's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Enrique Neves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. In the 57th minute, Agostinho Baiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Rinare's zone, Enrique Neves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Luís Gustavo Marinho came out of the goal and Enrique Neves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Délio Fernandez came out of the goal in the 61st minute to try and stop a shot by Rinare's André Luís Nogueira. But to his dismay, André Luís Nogueira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enrique Neves in the 75th minute of play forced Rinare's goalkeeper Luís Gustavo Marinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 76 minutes into the match, Rinare's goalkeeper Luís Gustavo Marinho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by João Xavier. In the 76th minute, Are's João Xavier dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. If João Xavier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Gustavo Marinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enrique Neves in the 82nd minute of the match. Délio Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Celso Bittencourt, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Naldo Chaves hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. João Xavier struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Luís Gustavo Marinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Are.
