In the 21stth minute of the game Luiz Eduardo de Castro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guirapa's Diogo Pena was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Diogo Pena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Eduardo de Castro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luiz Eduardo de Castro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diogo Pena having to interfere. In the 35th match minute, Guirapa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Raí Porto to maneuver through the defense. José Paulo Cavalcante sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 42nd minute Franklin Aguiar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Paulo Mello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Betão Marquez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Betão Marquez in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Diogo Pena saved Guirapa from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, José Paulo Cavalcante managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guirapa's supporters rose to their feet, but José Paulo Cavalcante was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luiz Paulo Mello breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 58 minutes, Luiz Eduardo de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Neris SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Eduardo de Castro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franklin Aguiar in the 61st minute of play forced Neris SS's goalkeeper Luiz Paulo Mello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Franklin Aguiar came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Guirapa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Franklin Aguiar couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Betão Marquez in the 66th minute of play forced Guirapa's goalkeeper Diogo Pena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 68 minutes, Raimundo Tasso mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Neris SS and the Guirapa players grew even worse after the yellow card. Luiz Eduardo de Castro scored 0-1 in the 73rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Diogo Pena, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Neris SS's Luiz Eduardo de Castro got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Franklin Aguiar might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luiz Paulo Mello. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Franklin Aguiar ran back to his position shaking his head. If José Paulo Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Diogo Pena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Betão Marquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. In the 90th minute, Fiori Maia reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Diogo Pena. The goal made the score 0-2. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Neris SS walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
