Rogério Medeiros might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Yuri de Godoy. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rogério Medeiros ran back to his position shaking his head. 10 minutes into the match, Iaras's goalkeeper Yuri de Godoy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Rogério Medeiros. Fred Cruz shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Rogério Medeiros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Iaras getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Marcos Sena hit a great ball. A hard shot 17 in the game by Rogério Medeiros from a close distance when the talented Yuri de Godoy managed to make a qualified save. Iaras's players were relieved. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emanuel Fernandes in the 21st minute of play forced Emboabas's goalkeeper Alessandro Albuquerque to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Emanuel Fernandes scored 0-1 in the 22nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alessandro Albuquerque, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Alfredão Aguiar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Yuri de Godoy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfredão Aguiar received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Yuri de Godoy guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. Alessandro Albuquerque made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rogério Vergílio in the 40th minute of play. Frédson Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alessandro Albuquerque having to interfere. Alfredão Aguiar struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Yuri de Godoy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Emboabas. When Alfredão Aguiar came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Emboabas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfredão Aguiar couldn't finish the play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredão Aguiar stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Emanuel Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Emboabas's Humberto da Rocha got a good chance for a goal in the 59th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 61st minute, Emanuel Fernandes made a precise shot to the right of Alessandro Albuquerque. Emboabas's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. Alessandro Albuquerque made a fantastic save in the 66th minute, when Emanuel Fernandes sent off a good shot on target. If Alfredão Aguiar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 72nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Iaras booed when Emboabas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 77 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tony Cabral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice moves Emanuel Fernandes could shoot a difficult shot in the 78th minute, which Alessandro Albuquerque however easily saved by the left post. After some careless play in the Emboabas defense, Emanuel Fernandes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alessandro Albuquerque. The Emboabas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alessandro Albuquerque should have stopped the shot. Rogério Medeiros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Yuri de Godoy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Iaras supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Iaras would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
