Carlos Augusto Bastos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Erasmo Silveira made a huge save. The audience was convinced that Valdomiro Magalhães's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Nilton Nóbrega was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. Carlos Augusto Bastos was extremely unlucky when he, in the 33rd minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Apucarena's goalkeeper Erasmo Silveira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Vítor de Souza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 43rd minute Valdomiro Magalhães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilton Nóbrega saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 75th minute, Valdomiro Magalhães got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Nilton Nóbrega showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valdomiro Magalhães, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. José Carlos Braga's late challenge caught a Apucarena's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. José Carlos Braga helped the player get up and apologised. In the 82nd minute Valdomiro Magalhães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nilton Nóbrega saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nilton Nóbrega came out of the goal and Valdomiro Magalhães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Apucarena players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented Tentugal from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
