Gilberto Tasso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilberto Tasso in the 17th minute of play forced Babia's goalkeeper Júlio de Brito to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eliézer Catarinense hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute Gilberto Tasso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio de Brito saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th minute of the match, José Pedro Fontes got a very nice opportunity to score, but Valdomiro Vianna was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. If Armando Toledo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. Breja AD's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Babia the free kick. A collision led to Breja AD getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Naldo Marques hit a great ball. 43 minutes into the game, Gilberto Tasso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Júlio de Brito was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 47 played minutes Babia got a freekick which was hit by Armando Toledo. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

José Pedro Fontes struck a weak shot in the 51st minute. Valdomiro Vianna didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Babia. After a rather tough play, Breja AD's Evandro Dracena got a free kick in the 52nd minute. José Pedro Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute.
