Naldo Marques hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Hermínio Campidelis's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Geovanni Ceresso firmly grabbed it by the left post. Antônio Hermes received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Geovanni Ceresso came out and tried to block the shot, but Antônio Hermes slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 13th minute. Gilberto Tasso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 24th minute, one of Breja AD:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Breja AD. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Samuca Alves put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Valdomiro Vianna. Waldemar de Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdomiro Vianna having to interfere. Valdomiro Vianna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Samuca Alves in the 45th minute of the match. After the first half Guayuba AD were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Antônio Hermes to make the kick off. Gilberto Tasso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Geovanni Ceresso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Antônio Hermes in the 56th minute of play forced Guayuba AD's goalkeeper Geovanni Ceresso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Gilberto Tasso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waldemar de Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Valdomiro Vianna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Samuca Alves in the 68th minute of play. Antônio Hermes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 73 minutes into the match, Guayuba AD's goal looked a bit too open when Antônio Hermes came free, but Geovanni Ceresso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. João Francisco Arruda kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Waldemar de Alcântara's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 77thth minute, Valdomiro Vianna skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Breja AD's Valdomiro Vianna proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 79th minute of the match, managed to save Breja AD from getting a goal against them. Samuca Alves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdomiro Vianna having to interfere. Valdomiro Vianna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuca Alves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gilberto Tasso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Geovanni Ceresso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Guayuba AD's zone, Antônio Hermes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Geovanni Ceresso came out of the goal and Antônio Hermes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The Guayuba AD supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Guayuba AD would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
