Reinaldo Queirós fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Norberto Cavalcante having to interfere. If Gustavo de Castro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpected shot in the 28th minute by Tibúrcio Torres got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Pedro Guerra kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. The supporters of Aroeira booed when Babia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mazinho Viana didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aroeira's Gustavo de Castro got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Reinaldo Queirós to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Aroeira was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilson Mandrak to maneuver through the defense. Angelo Santos was out of position in the 53 minute of play, and Umberto de Brito capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Aroeira's supporters rose to their feet, but Umberto de Brito was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Angelo Santos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Norberto Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tibúrcio Torres in the 95th minute of the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Aroeira walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
