After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Clóvis Vander managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itui's supporters rose to their feet, but Clóvis Vander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The audience was convinced that Richard de Queirós's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Inácio Brodel was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. 24 minutes into the match, Guarulhos EC's goalkeeper Fernão da Silveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Deivid Braga. In the 30th minute Richard de Queirós shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Inácio Brodel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Inácio Brodel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richard de Queirós, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Reinaldo Paes charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Reinaldo Paes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 33 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Guarulhos EC! Enéas Veloso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Inácio Brodel having to make a save. If Jonas Nogueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.
Inácio Brodel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jonas Nogueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Inácio Brodel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enéas Veloso in the 56th minute of the match. After having played for 58 minutes, Almir Baptista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Itui's supporters crossed their fingers, but Almir Baptista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Guarulhos EC's Fernão da Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Deivid Braga in the 63rd minute of play. The supporters of Guarulhos EC booed when Itui was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adhemar Guimarães didn't get a good kick on the ball. Deivid Braga struck a weak shot in the 77th minute. Fernão da Silveira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Itui. When Enéas Veloso came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Guarulhos EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Enéas Veloso couldn't finish the play. Guarulhos EC's Richard de Queirós got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Richard de Queirós got free with Inácio Brodel in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Richard de Queirós's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 86thth minute, Inácio Brodel skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal.
