Jaozeiro's Lenílson Galvão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessandro Vianna in the 11th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Jaozeiro's zone, Alessandro Vianna stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lenílson Galvão came out of the goal and Alessandro Vianna tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Jaozeiro's Jefferson de Mendonça got a free kick in the 20th minute. Frederico Queiroz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 21st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Lenílson Galvão. Jaozeiro's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Nicolas Varelas short, quick shot in the 24thth minute got Lenílson Galvão to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 27 minutes into the match, Jaozeiro's goal looked a bit too open when Alessandro Vianna came free, but Lenílson Galvão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aloísio Matorin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aloísio Matorin in the 30th minute of play forced Icana's goalkeeper Agostinho Loyola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Agostinho Loyola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Remo Rosado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 38 minutes into the match, Icana's goal looked a bit too open when Remo Rosado came free, but Agostinho Loyola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 42 minutes, Guga Pinho mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jaozeiro and the Icana players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 42nd match minute, Jaozeiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Guga Pinho to maneuver through the defense. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.
In the 51st minute, Alessandro Vianna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Juan Senna's late challenge caught a Jaozeiro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Senna helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 53rd minute of the game. One of Icana:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Jaozeiro:s goal. The referee gave Jaozeiro a penalty, 55 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Alexandre Quadros, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Icana's Agostinho Loyola. 0-1. Eusébio Nunes charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eusébio Nunes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Eusébio Nunes hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. After having played for 61 minutes, Alessandro Vianna managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Icana's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alessandro Vianna was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alessandro Vianna fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lenílson Galvão having to interfere. Alessandro Vianna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Aloísio Matorin might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Agostinho Loyola. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Aloísio Matorin ran back to his position shaking his head. If Erik Lira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nicolas Varela recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 86 minutes, João Augusto Mattos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Icana and the Jaozeiro players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 87th match minute, Icana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Augusto Mattos to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 89th minute, when Jaozeiro's Jefferson de Mendonça after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Agostinho Loyola in Icana's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. Aloísio Matorin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Agostinho Loyola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aloísio Matorin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Remo Rosado sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Jaozeiro walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
