Artur Alvarenga, 6 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 7th match minute, Tapuru FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ramiro Correia to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Tapuru FC getting a freekick after 9 minutes play. Álvaro Pereira hit a great ball. Arauna's Reynaldo Sampaio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Álvaro Pereira in the 13th minute of play. If Álvaro Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Álvaro Pereira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Reynaldo Sampaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 25th minute of the match Arauna got a corner. Tapuru FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Artur Alvarenga ran over to the corner to take the kick. After 27 minutes Tapuru FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Artur Alvarenga who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Artur Alvarenga almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Tapuru FC's Paulo Berger did a great save. Tapuru FC's Cláudio Meireles got his second yellow card of the match in the 29th minute. The referee ordered Cláudio Meireles off the ground. After a rather tough play, Tapuru FC's Cláudio Meireles got a free kick in the 29th minute. Paulo Berger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vitório do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Tapuru FC's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Arauna had won, even though Tapuru FC had held more of the ball.
