Spectators: 32 (Terracing: 25, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Paulão Mangueira started the match with the kick off. After having played for 8 minutes, Gonçalo Abreu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marlenopolis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gonçalo Abreu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Arauna's Reynaldo Sampaio got control of the ball when Gonçalo Abreu tried to sneak it across the goal line. 11 minutes into the game, one of Arauna:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 13 minutes, Marlenopolis's Manfredo Lara got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Reynaldo Sampaio. Gonçalo Abreu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Reynaldo Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão Mangueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Fernão dos Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vitório do Nascimento in the 26th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Marlenopolis's Lenílson Pires got a free kick in the 28th minute. Artur Alvarenga took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 29th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Fernão dos Santos. Marlenopolis's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The supporters of Arauna booed when Marlenopolis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lenílson Pires didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vitório do Nascimento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fernão dos Santos having to interfere. When Vitório do Nascimento fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Arauna's protests and gave Vitório do Nascimento a yellow card for diving instead. Gonçalo Abreu struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Reynaldo Sampaio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marlenopolis. Paulão Mangueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Reynaldo Sampaio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Paulão Mangueira's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The wind increased when Vitório do Nascimento made the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Marlenopolis got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Renato Donato. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ciro Chaves during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 56 played minutes Arauna got a freekick which was hit by Ciro Chaves. In the 65th minute, Paulão Mangueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 67 minutes, Vitório do Nascimento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fernão dos Santos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. When Vitório do Nascimento came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Arauna fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vitório do Nascimento couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gonçalo Abreu in the 82nd minute of play forced Arauna's goalkeeper Reynaldo Sampaio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Reynaldo Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulão Mangueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. After 84 minutes of play Arauna's Ciro Chaves was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After 84 played minutes Arauna got a freekick which was hit by Ciro Chaves. Gonçalo Abreu might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Reynaldo Sampaio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gonçalo Abreu ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Willian Coelho during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 87th minute, Willian Coelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marlenopolis's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
