If Wilton Proença had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. César Marques recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Edu Paes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Freire in the 18th minute of the match. Wilton Proença struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Edu Paes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Xapury. Daniel Freire's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edu Paes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, Itaguassu's goal looked a bit too open when Wilton Proença came free, but Edu Paes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Itaguassu players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Xapury were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Laércio Romero made a kick off. Laércio Romero hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. 60 minutes into the match, Xapury's goal looked a bit too open when César Marques came free, but Walmyr Simão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. César Marques sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 69 minutes into the match, Itaguassu's goalkeeper Edu Paes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Freire. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, César Marques managed to get in a good position for a shot. Itaguassu's supporters rose to their feet, but César Marques was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Walmyr Simão breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 89th match minute, Xapury was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Silvério Ferraz to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Freire fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edu Paes having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Xapury had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
