The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Taquarinhas FC's Romeu de Godoy got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Romeu de Godoy's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bernardo Nascimento was relentless in the 8th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romeu de Godoy in the 8th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bernardo Nascimento saved Castelhanos FC from getting behind. The corner led Taquarinhas FC's Luisinho Marinho to fire away a dangerous shot which Bernardo Nascimento despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Cléberson Vergílio kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. In the 16th minute of the match Eliseu Fernandes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Christiano Esteves skillfully saved the ball. Christiano Esteves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kaká Toledo in the 18th minute of the match. Bernardo Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romeu de Godoy in the 24th minute of play. Taquarinhas FC's Romeu de Godoy got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Christiano Esteves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeremias Faustino in the 37th minute of play. Taquarinhas FC's Christiano Esteves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jeremias Faustino in the 39th minute of play. Kaká Toledo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Christiano Esteves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Taquarinhas FC's Rômulo Pena got a free kick in the 43rd minute. After recieving a nice pass, Castelhanos FC's Ricardo Paranaense tried to score from far away in the 44th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Kaká Toledo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kaká Toledo struck a weak shot in the 50th minute. Christiano Esteves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Castelhanos FC. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Romeu de Godoy to make the kick off. Kaká Toledo in the 55thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Christiano Esteves, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Ricardo Paranaense kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Cléberson Vergílio got his second yellow card in the match during the 65th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Cléberson Vergílio hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Castelhanos FC's Jeremias Faustino got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Christiano Esteves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jeremias Faustino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremias Faustino in the 75th minute of play forced Taquarinhas FC's goalkeeper Christiano Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 75 played minutes Taquarinhas FC got a freekick which was hit by Romeu de Godoy. When Kaká Toledo came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Castelhanos FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kaká Toledo couldn't finish the play. Kaká Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christiano Esteves having to interfere. Kaká Toledos short, quick shot in the 83rdth minute got Christiano Esteves to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 86 minutes into the game, Giuseppe Ramalho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Taquarinhas FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Castelhanos FC the free kick. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 85th minute of the game. One of Taquarinhas FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Castelhanos FC:s goal. Taquarinhas FC's Christiano Esteves proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 92nd minute of the match, managed to save Taquarinhas FC from getting a goal against them. The supporters of Castelhanos FC booed when Taquarinhas FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rômulo Pena didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jeremias Faustino in the 98th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Christiano Esteves saved Taquarinhas FC from getting behind. When Dorival Netto fell near the penalty area in the 100th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Castelhanos FC's protests and gave Dorival Netto a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Taquarinhas FC booed when Castelhanos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 100 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorival Netto didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Castelhanos FC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
