The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Douglas Melo fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Catirina's protests and gave Douglas Melo a yellow card for diving instead. After 4 played minutes Catirina got a freekick which was hit by Douglas Melo. If Felipe Mineiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 8 minutes, Osvaldo Cardozo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Taboao's supporters crossed their fingers, but Osvaldo Cardozo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dalmo Ramalho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Osvaldo Cardozo in the 12th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Catirina's Douglas Melo got a free kick in the 17th minute. Osvaldo Cardozo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Michel de Souza sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vágner Aguiar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Vítor Araújo in the 27th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felipe Mineiro got free with Dalmo Ramalho in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 33rd minute Michel de Souza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vágner Aguiar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chico Alves kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Catirina's Dalmo Ramalho proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 35th minute of the match, managed to save Catirina from getting a goal against them. Osvaldo Cardozo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dalmo Ramalho having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Catirina's zone, Norberto Pena stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dalmo Ramalho came out of the goal and Norberto Pena tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

After 54 played minutes Taboao got a freekick which was hit by Norberto Pena. Michel de Souza came free with the goalkeeper in the 59th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Vágner Aguiar could save by the left post. Dalmo Ramalho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Osvaldo Cardozo, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. A collision led to Catirina getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Douglas Melo hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Michel de Souza got free with Vágner Aguiar in the 79th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felipe Mineiro in the 97th minute of play forced Catirina's goalkeeper Dalmo Ramalho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee ended the match the Taboao players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
