Frank Cunha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valdomiro Soeiro in the 9th minute of the match. Frank Cunha made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Tadeu Guerra sent off a good shot on target. Víktor Veiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Delfim Arruda having to interfere. Tadeu Guerra was extremely unlucky when he, in the 17th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Paulo Renato da Rocha managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grussai SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Renato da Rocha was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Delfim Arruda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Víktor Veiga hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. After 34 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Grussai SC! Pedrinho de Mendonça placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! The audience thought a goal was coming when Tadeu Guerra got free with Frank Cunha in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.
Paulo Renato da Rocha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Delfim Arruda made a huge save. Paulo Renato da Rocha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Delfim Arruda tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marabitana's Delfim Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Víktor Veiga in the 72nd minute of play. In the 91st minute, Tadeu Guerra left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Marabitana fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After 96 played minutes Grussai SC got a freekick which was hit by Jerônimo Costa. The audience held their breath when Valdir Sabóia in the 98th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Frank Cunha's left hand side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Marabitana fans cheered their team off the field, for while Grussai SC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
