In the 15th match minute, Carvoeiro AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marcos Simão to maneuver through the defense. Amauri Meireles in the 20thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Carvoeiro AD's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Abel Torres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abel Simões in the 24th minute of play. After having played for 27 minutes, Abel Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carvoeiro AD's supporters crossed their fingers, but Abel Simões was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Abel Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 32 minutes into the game, André Luís Fontes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lontrao SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Carvoeiro AD the free kick. Lontrao SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abel Simões was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 41st minute of the game, Evaristo Berger landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. When Angelo de Queirós fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carvoeiro AD's protests and gave Angelo de Queirós a yellow card for diving instead. In the 41st minute, one of Carvoeiro AD:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Carvoeiro AD. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the match clock showed 52 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Amauri Meireles sped through Lontrao SC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Abel Torres. Lontrao SC's Abel Torres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Simões in the 55th minute of play. Lontrao SC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
