Robinho Antunes was out of position in the 7 minute of play, and Luís Guilherme Messias capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Luís Guilherme Messias really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. 11 minutes into the game, Edgar Prestes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fortaleza's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tapiruaba SS the free kick. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luís Guilherme Messias couldn't finish the play. Carlos Fernando Mota showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After a rather tough play, Tapiruaba SS's Raphael Carioca got a free kick in the 59th minute. Léo Leite recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tapiruaba SS's Robinho Antunes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luís Guilherme Messias in the 68th minute of play. With his leg Thiago Massa managed to avoid a goal in the 75thth minute, when Tapiruaba SS's Léo Leite fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 77 minutes into the match, Fortaleza's goal looked a bit too open when Denílson Nóbrega came free, but Thiago Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Chicão Fontes got his second yellow card in the match during the 77th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 78 played minutes Fortaleza got a freekick which was hit by Chicão Fontes. In the 83rd minute Eduardo Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Robinho Antunes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Eduardo Cardoso scored 2-1 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Robinho Antunes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
