An unexpectedly hard shot by Celso Paiva in the 4th minute of play forced Trovao's goalkeeper Abel Santana to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Celso Paiva fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Abel Santana having to interfere. Edson de Lara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 12th minute. Abel Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 18th match minute, Itaio AD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albertino Lucas to maneuver through the defense. Itaio AD's Juninho Leal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tibúrcio Gaúcho in the 20th minute of play. If Edson de Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Celso Paiva sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Albertino Lucas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Abel Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edson de Lara might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Abel Santana. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Edson de Lara ran back to his position shaking his head. The supporters of Itaio AD booed when Trovao was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olavo Faustino didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Celso Paiva was the one to do the kick off. If Tibúrcio Gaúcho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 56th minute Enio Cabral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juninho Leal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Itaio AD getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Albertino Lucas hit a great ball. If Enio Cabral had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abel Santana made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Paiva in the 69th minute of play. Celso Paiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Abel Santana tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Juninho Leal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonardo da Costa in the 82nd minute of the match. Leonardo da Costa hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Itaio AD's Falcão Lopez couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 89th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Trovao. 93 minutes into the match, Trovao's goal looked a bit too open when Celso Paiva came free, but Abel Santana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
