Copatana FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jarbas Damião was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Severino Netto struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Régis Fernandes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Copatana FC. Jarbas Damião sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Agenor Couto struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Virgílio Nogueira didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Umararituba. Diego Paraibano's late challenge caught a Copatana FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diego Paraibano helped the player get up and apologised. In the 17th match minute, Umararituba was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diego Paraibano to maneuver through the defense. Virgílio Nogueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jarbas Damião, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Umararituba's Diego Paraibano in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Copatana FC's Virgílio Nogueira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Paraibano in the 36th minute of play. Ricardinho Rezende could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Régis Fernandes made a huge save. When the match had gone on for 47 minutes, Ricardinho Rezende took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Régis Fernandes to make any attempt to save it. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Diego Paraibano to make the kick off. In the 58th minute, Serafim Mangueira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. During the 63rd minute of the match Diego Paraibano completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Diego Paraibano a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Copatana FC booed when Umararituba was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diego Paraibano didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Severino Netto came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Copatana FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Severino Netto couldn't finish the play. After having played for 71 minutes, Jarbas Damião managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Umararituba's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jarbas Damião was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wanderson Toscano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Régis Fernandes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ricardinho Rezende in the 83rd minute of play. If Severino Netto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jarbas Damiãos short, quick shot in the 87thth minute got Virgílio Nogueira to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Severino Netto came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Copatana FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Severino Netto couldn't finish the play. 97 minutes into the game, Ricardinho Rezende cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Régis Fernandes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in.
