In the 5th minute, Umararituba's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Yuri Simões fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Régis Fernandes made a fantastic save in the 7th minute, when Yuri Simões sent off a good shot on target. After 12 minutes of play, Pongahy's Albertinho Leal made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Régis Fernandes was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Albertinho Leal in the 25th minute of play forced Umararituba's goalkeeper Régis Fernandes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jarbas Damião fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romeu Pinho having to interfere. Diego Paraibano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Umararituba's Jarbas Damião in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. An unexpected shot in the 48th minute by Yuri Simões got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Albertinho Leal made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Albertinho Leal had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Régis Fernandes. The goalkeeper, Romeu Pinho, was totally fooled by Umararituba's Celso Koehler, who 66 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. In the 71st minute Yuri Simões shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Régis Fernandes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 72 minutes into the match, Pongahy's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Paraibano came free, but Romeu Pinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Umararituba booed when Pongahy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dé Hermes didn't get a good kick on the ball.
