The audience thought a goal was coming when Aron Sasu got free with Dante Lacasa in the 9th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jorge Bitxintxo's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Dante Lacasa firmly grabbed it by the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luca Zorita in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tibor Berkes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC. BRAILA-CHERCEA's goalkeeper Tibor Berkes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Lautaro Mancebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 19th minute, Joel Gaona got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Mexico's Dante Lacasa got control of the ball when Jorge Bitxintxo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Tibor Berkes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jorge Bitxintxo. Mexico's Dante Lacasa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 31st minute of the match, managed to save Mexico from getting a goal against them. Tibor Berkes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felix Luque to maneuver through the defense. 39 minutes into the match, Jorge Bitxintxo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dante Lacasa. Mexico's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jorge Bitxintxo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 45th minute, Lautaro Mancebo made a precise shot to the right of Tibor Berkes. FC. BRAILA-CHERCEA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joel Gaona made a kick off. Tibor Berkes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 51st minute. Joel Gaona struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Tibor Berkes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aron Sasu in the 54th minute of the match. After 64 minutes, Abel Blasi mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC. BRAILA-CHERCEA and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Mexico booed when FC. BRAILA-CHERCEA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abel Blasi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tibor Berkes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lautaro Mancebo in the 73rd minute. In the 74th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. FC. BRAILA-CHERCEA's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Joel Gaona got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Tibor Berkes quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Lautaro Mancebos short, quick shot in the 75thth minute got Tibor Berkes to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. 75 minutes into the match, FC. BRAILA-CHERCEA's goalkeeper Tibor Berkes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alberto Tafalla. Joel Gaona sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tibor Berkes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 80th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 86 minutes, Joel Gaona took a quick shot and it went in 1-2 without a chance for Tibor Berkes to make any attempt to save it. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Bitxintxo in the 92nd minute of play. The Mexico supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Mexico would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
