An unexpectedly hard shot by Waldemar Amaral in the 79th minute of play forced Potirendaba AD's goalkeeper Marcelo de Souza to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Maurício Mangueira came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Garrote SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maurício Mangueira couldn't finish the play. Garrote SC's Cipriano de Amaral proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Garrote SC from getting a goal against them. Marcelo de Souza showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maurício Mangueira in the 90th minute of the match. César Ferraz might have been able to make a better finish in the 98th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cipriano de Amaral. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. César Ferraz ran back to his position shaking his head. Potirendaba AD's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
