Virgílio Almeida was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 19 minutes into the match, Jatal's goal looked a bit too open when Eduardo Breckenfeld came free, but Edgar Cruz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 22nd minute, Jatal's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Rui Zilles fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Dudu Hoffmann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Virgílio Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Rui Zilles recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ricardinho Araújo hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Gilvan Massa charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Virgílio Almeida didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cléberson Neves went, in the 37th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-2 was the resulting score. Rui Zilles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edgar Cruz having to interfere. Eduardo Breckenfeld recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 47th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sandro Vergílio was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Jatal's zone, Rui Zilles stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edgar Cruz came out of the goal and Rui Zilles tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edgar Cruz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eduardo Breckenfeld, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eduardo Breckenfeld might have been able to make a better finish in the 58th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edgar Cruz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Eduardo Breckenfeld ran back to his position shaking his head. Jatal's Sandro Vergílio got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 73 minutes, Rui Zilles managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oticica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rui Zilles was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience was convinced that Rui Zilles's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edgar Cruz was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Oscar Teles charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Oscar Teles the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Oscar Teles kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Jatal's André Rocha shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 85th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Virgílio Almeida but with some difficulty. Rui Zilles struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Edgar Cruz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Oticica.
