Spectators: 33 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Diamantino Paiva took the kick off in the first half of the match. Serrota SS's Benedito Pereira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beto Freitas in the 17th minute of play. If Beto Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute, Willian Tróia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Diamantino Paiva blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Kaká Coelho having to make a save. When Gualter Perez fell near the penalty area in the 28th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Serrota SS's protests and gave Gualter Perez a yellow card for diving instead. After 28 played minutes Serrota SS got a freekick which was hit by Gualter Perez. 29 minutes into the match, Goitacazes's Digo Tinoco broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Beto Freitas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Claudinei Guimarães recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of Serrota SS:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Goitacazes:s goal. In the 45th minute, Ramón Marquez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Serrota SS players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Goitacazes were winning 0-1.

After having played for 57 minutes, Roger Cearense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Goitacazes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roger Cearense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Roger Cearense got free with Benedito Pereira in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The crowd rose to their feet as Goitacazes's Roger Cearense slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Benedito Pereira. That made the score 0-2 after 60 minutes of play. A hard shot 70 in the game by Roger Cearense from a close distance when the talented Benedito Pereira managed to make a qualified save. Serrota SS's players were relieved. In the 73rd minute Diamantino Paiva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaká Coelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Diamantino Paiva came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Serrota SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Diamantino Paiva couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Eugênio Novaes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Serrota SS's supporters rose to their feet, but Eugênio Novaes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kaká Coelho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Serrota SS booed when Goitacazes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ramón Marquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kaká Coelho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eugênio Novaes in the 80th minute of the match. Kaká Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diamantino Paiva in the 82nd minute of play. Roger Cearense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedito Pereira having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Beto Freitas in the 87th minute of play forced Serrota SS's goalkeeper Benedito Pereira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 91st minute of the match Goitacazes got a corner. Serrota SS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Digo Tinoco ran over to the corner to take the kick. It was a well-played corner which Jefferson da Costa managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. The Goitacazes supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Goitacazes would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
