Seating: 7, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Perivaldo Soares took the kick off in the first half of the match. Goitacazes's Roger Cearense got a good chance for a goal in the 6th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Roger Cearense in the 8th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Diogo Mendes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Kaká Coelho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Perivaldo Soares in the 11th minute of play. 14 minutes into the match, Goitacazes's goal looked a bit too open when Perivaldo Soares came free, but Kaká Coelho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luz's Diogo Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beto Freitas in the 16th minute of play. Perivaldo Soares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Kaká Coelho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 29th minute, Elói Botelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Luz's goalkeeper Diogo Mendes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Roger Cearense might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Diogo Mendes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Roger Cearense ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fiori Teles during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Luz's Diogo Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beto Freitas in the 45th minute of play.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Beto Freitas to make the kick off. If Beto Freitas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Diogo Mendes made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Roger Cearense sent off a good shot on target. Roger Cearense blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Diogo Mendes having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Perivaldo Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot. Luz's supporters rose to their feet, but Perivaldo Soares was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kaká Coelho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Goitacazes getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Ramón Marquez hit a great ball. After 71 minutes of play Goitacazes's Fiori Teles was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In a very dangerous position, a player in Goitacazes fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 71st minute. Penalty! In the 76th match minute, Goitacazes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Digo Tinoco to maneuver through the defense. In the 79th minute Guto Britto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kaká Coelho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Goitacazes getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Claudinei Guimarães hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute, Perivaldo Soares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Guto Britto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Goitacazes's zone, Guto Britto stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kaká Coelho came out of the goal and Guto Britto tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luz's Perivaldo Soares got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Túlio Ferreira hit a great freekick 99 minutes into the match. Luz were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Goitacazes for a fine match.
