The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Luiz Fábio Tasso couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice moves Ramón Andrade could shoot a difficult shot in the 20th minute, which Samuca Leite however easily saved by the left post. Gino Ortiz charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gino Ortiz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. José Pedro Barbosa struck a weak shot in the 37th minute. Alberto Fernandes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Xarqueada. If Afonso Maia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Pedro Barbosa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Alberto Fernandes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Pedro Barbosa to make the kick off. 51 minutes into the game, Germano Queirós was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Xarqueada's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Adiquinhao the free kick. In the 52nd minute of the match Raphael Machado sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Samuca Leite skillfully saved the ball. José Pedro Barbosa received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Luiz Fábio Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 64th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alberto Fernandes having to interfere. Alberto Fernandes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Pedro Barbosa's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Luiz Fábio Tasso received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Fábio Tasso got free with Alberto Fernandes in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Xarqueada had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
