The referee ignored Cerro's protests and gave Bernardinho Leite a yellow card for diving instead. Manoel Koehler charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Manoel Koehler the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Amanaiara booed when Cerro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Manoel Koehler didn't get a good kick on the ball. 23 minutes into the match, Cerro's goal looked a bit too open when Valdomiro de Amaral came free, but William Meirelles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 36 minutes of play, Cerro's Eusébio Toscano made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vânderson Hermes was left in no man's land by his defense there! William Meirelles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrício Trancoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Sandrinho Zanette sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Sandrinho Zanette had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
