In the 10th minute Fabrício Amaral shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olavo Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Sílvio Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 18th minute, Cafu Penha hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sílvio Fernandes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Váldson Dracena hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in Cosmopolis's zone, Christiano Gomes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Evandro Gaúcho came out of the goal and Christiano Gomes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cafu Penha kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. 44 minutes in the game, Júlio Rezende fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Evandro Gaúcho having to interfere. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Toninho Quintal was the one to do the kick off. 57 minutes into the match, Matafome's goal looked a bit too open when Arí Xavier came free, but Olavo Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Matafome's Olavo Santos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Matafome from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Júlio Rezende in the 67th minute of play forced Cosmopolis's goalkeeper Evandro Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Júlio Rezende's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Evandro Gaúcho was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Cosmopolis's Arí Xavier got a free kick in the 69th minute. Júlio Rezende recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Custódio Vergílio charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Custódio Vergílio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Toninho Quintal in the 85th minute of play forced Matafome's goalkeeper Olavo Santos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Toninho Quintal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cosmopolis's goalkeeper Evandro Gaúcho, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
