Antônio Carlos Koehler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Durval da Silva having to interfere. Antônio Carlos Koehler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Durval da Silva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Durval da Silva stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Antônio Carlos Koehler's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. 10 minutes into the game, one of Araruna:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Durval da Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro de Queirós in the 17th minute of play. Durval da Silva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mauro de Queirós, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hernani Gonçalves's late challenge caught a Tutoya's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hernani Gonçalves helped the player get up and apologised. 31 minutes into the match, Tutoya's Luís Guilherme Sena broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Sandrinho Mello hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. 40 minutes into the match, Araruna's Mauro de Queirós sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Durval da Silva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Antônio Carlos Koehler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Basílio Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mauro de Queirós to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Tutoya's zone, Mauro de Queirós stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Durval da Silva came out of the goal and Mauro de Queirós tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Guga Sarmento came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Tutoya fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Guga Sarmento couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Hernani Gonçalves's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Durval da Silva was relentless in the 61st minute of the game. Durval da Silva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mauro de Queirós in the 71st minute of play. Guga Sarmento blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arthur Fernandes having to make a save. After 74 played minutes Araruna got a freekick which was hit by Gerson Faustino. After recieving a nice pass, Tutoya's Luís Guilherme Sena tried to score from far away in the 75th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. With a little luck, Tutoya's Durval da Silva got control of the ball when Antônio Carlos Koehler tried to sneak it across the goal line. Guga Sarmento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Arthur Fernandes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 83 minutes into the match, Tutoya's goal looked a bit too open when Mauro de Queirós came free, but Durval da Silva reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Durval da Silva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mauro de Queirós in the 84th minute of the match. Araruna's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
