But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Richard da Mata couldn't finish the play. Cássio de Azevedo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fred Cardoso hit a great freekick 10 minutes into the match. Artur Marinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 21 minutes in the game, Basílio Andrade dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 23 minutes into the match, Rive EC's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Marinho came free, but Gonçalo Motta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Richard da Mata fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jânio Gaspar having to interfere. In the 30th minute, Dráusio Tande hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Gravatahy's Fausto Bastos got a free kick in the 31st minute. Marcel Saraiva hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artur Marinho in the 36th minute of play forced Rive EC's goalkeeper Gonçalo Motta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Rive EC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Dinei Perez hit a great ball. When Artur Marinho came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Gravatahy fans jumped to their feet. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Artur Marinho made a kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Cássio de Azevedo notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Gravatahy's Jânio Gaspar. Jânio Gaspar was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Basílio Andrade in the 60th minute of play forced Rive EC's goalkeeper Gonçalo Motta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gonçalo Motta didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 61st minute, which inside left pole to 1-1. Gonçalo Motta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Basílio Andrade in the 65th minute of the match. The supporters of Gravatahy booed when Rive EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís Eduardo Trancoso didn't get a good kick on the ball. Basílio Andrade struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Gonçalo Motta didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gravatahy. After some careless play in the Gravatahy defense, Richard da Mata kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jânio Gaspar. The Gravatahy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jânio Gaspar should have stopped the shot. Basílio Andrade's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 86thth minute, Gonçalo Motta skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 91st minute, Sílvio Queirós hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 92 minutes into the match, Rive EC's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Marinho came free, but Gonçalo Motta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rive EC were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Gravatahy for a fine match.
