The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 3 played minutes Xarqueada got a freekick which was hit by Jerônimo de Alcântara. After a rather tough play, Xarqueada's Luiz Fábio Mesquita got a free kick in the 5th minute. If Isaltino Barreto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. A collision led to Pinhoes getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Erik Linares hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manoel Bittencourt got free with Cléber Mumbach in the 13th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Xarqueada's Luiz Fábio Mesquita got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 16 minutes into the match, Pinhoes's goalkeeper Cléber Mumbach had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Manoel Bittencourt. Manoel Bittencourt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cléber Mumbach having to interfere. If Luiz Fábio Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 30 minutes in the game, Luiz Fábio Mesquita fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Cléber Mumbach having to interfere. Gilmar Senna's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gualter Sarmento read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd minute Luiz Fábio Mesquita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cléber Mumbach saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manoel Bittencourt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Cléber Mumbach made a huge save. Pinhoes's Cléber Mumbach played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luiz Fábio Mesquita in the 42nd minute of play. Luiz Fábio Mesquita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gilmar Senna to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute, Paulo Albuquerque got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Isaltino Barreto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Gualter Sarmento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gualter Sarmento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gilmar Senna, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Hermínio Xavier placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! If Luiz Fábio Mesquita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Xarqueada getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Arthur Quaresma hit a great ball. 86 minutes into the match, Pinhoes's Erik Linares broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After some careless play in the Xarqueada defense, Isaltino Barreto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gualter Sarmento. The Xarqueada fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gualter Sarmento should have stopped the shot. Gilmar Senna sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
