When Sílvio Luís Sá fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Nhambiquara's protests and gave Sílvio Luís Sá a yellow card for diving instead. In the 11th match minute, Nhambiquara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Luís Sá to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Júlio Quaresma got free with Aílton da Fonseca in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Arthur Novaes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nhambiquara's Dadá Pitta got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dadá Pitta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 30 minutes into the match, Nhambiquara's goal looked a bit too open when Joel de Souza came free, but Aílton da Fonseca reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Júlio Quaresma received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Aílton da Fonseca tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nhambiquara's Aílton da Fonseca played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel de Souza in the 36th minute of play. In the 38thth minute of the game Dadá Pitta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mucurata's Augusto Ferraz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Dadá Pitta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé Pedro Faria charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zé Pedro Faria the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Dadá Pitta's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Augusto Ferraz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. When Arthur Novaes came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Nhambiquara fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arthur Novaes couldn't finish the play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Dadá Pitta made the kick off in the second half. Arthur Novaes's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 53rdth minute, Augusto Ferraz skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Júlio Quaresma blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aílton da Fonseca having to make a save. After some careless play in the Nhambiquara defense, Joel de Souza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aílton da Fonseca. The Nhambiquara fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aílton da Fonseca should have stopped the shot. After 67 played minutes Mucurata got a freekick which was hit by Edgard da Cunha. Nhambiquara's Edvaldo Paraíba couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 68th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Mucurata. Mucurata's Zé Pedro Faria got his second yellow card of the match in the 70th minute. The referee ordered Zé Pedro Faria off the ground. The supporters of Nhambiquara booed when Mucurata was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 72 match minutes in a wonderful position. Giuseppe Romero didn't get a good kick on the ball. Júlio Quaresma sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Arthur Novaes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 77th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
