Joao EC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Norberto Arruda was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Norberto Arruda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Sérgio Cabral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 37 minutes into the match, Joao EC's Abel Teixeira broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. Erivaldo Prado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Sérgio Cabral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Norberto Arruda made the kick off in the second half. Erivaldo Prado who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 52ndth minute tested the skills of Sérgio Cabral when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 54 minutes in the game, Erivaldo Prado fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Sérgio Cabral having to interfere. Evaristo Rodrigues kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. 57 minutes into the match, Erivaldo Prado had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Sérgio Cabral. The referee ignored Joao EC's protests and gave Josué de Azevedo a yellow card for diving instead. After 72 played minutes Joao EC got a freekick which was hit by Josué de Azevedo. If Norberto Arruda had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Joao EC's goalkeeper Sérgio Cabral, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 77th minute, Carlos Augusto Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The long shot by Bernardo de Brito in the 78th minute really tested Sérgio Cabral's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Hermínio Valle charged in rather forcefully in the 78th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hermínio Valle the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 78 played minutes Joao EC got a freekick which was hit by Hermínio Valle. During the 80th minute of the match Hermínio Valle completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Hermínio Valle a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Hermínio Valle hit a great freekick 81 minutes into the match. In the 85th minute Norberto Arruda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sérgio Cabral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aluísio Paraíba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Trigolandia's Erivaldo Prado was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 94th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Trigolandia walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
