The referee ignored Erebango SC's protests and gave Agenor Vianna a yellow card for diving instead. In the 13th match minute, Erebango SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Agenor Vianna to maneuver through the defense. 14 minutes into the match, Henrique Palmeira notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Erebango SC's Enéas de Carvalho. Enéas de Carvalho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ademar Recife hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Fabrício Ramalho might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nilmar Linhares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabrício Ramalho ran back to his position shaking his head. Nilmar Linhares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fabrício Ramalho in the 36th minute of the match. In the 36th minute, Fabrício Ramalho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Erebango SC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. If Agnaldo da Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Henrique Palmeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enéas de Carvalho having to interfere. 45 minutes into the match, Fabrício Ramalho had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nilmar Linhares. Caieira SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabrício Ramalho was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Henrique Palmeira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Cássio Carioca was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. The tension between the Caieira SS and the Erebango SC players grew even worse after the yellow card.
