To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mapixi's Gilson Tasso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juarês Lopes in the 14th minute of play. If Juarês Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mathias Travassos charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mathias Travassos the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 24 minutes into the match, Mapixi's Celsinho Fernandez broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. An unexpected shot in the 26th minute by Elias Lima got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The supporters of Mapixi booed when Ascencao SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Diogo Cerezo didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Ascencao SC's Mathias Travassos got a free kick in the 31st minute. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ascencao SC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 33rd minute. Penalty! Ascencao SC's supporters rose to their feet, but Elias Lima was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gilson Tasso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some fancy dribbling in the 48th minute, Tiago Gabriel Albuquerque managed to get in a good position for a shot. With an all-out effort, Mapixi's Ulysses Messias threw himself towards the right post 69 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Vinícius Prestes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 71st minute, Guto Tavares hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Elias Lima might have been able to make a better finish in the 77th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gilson Tasso. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
