Tucumduba EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Itapura EC the free kick. After 35 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Tucumduba EC! The goalkeeper, Olavo Sampaio, was totally fooled by Itapura EC's Sandrinho Freire, who 38 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. If Geraldo Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Tucumduba EC's Rubinho Mumbach got a free kick in the 45th minute. Doriva Branco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Geraldo Guimarães made the kick off in the second half. Carlos do Vale fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Júnior Viana having to interfere.
